The Mid-State Technical College Board of Directors elected officers for the 2016–2017 academic year Monday, July 11.

Betty Bruski Mallek of Junction City was elected chairperson; Justin Hoerter of Stevens Point was elected vice chairperson; Peggy Ose of Wisconsin Rapids was elected secretary and Charles Spargo of Friendship was elected treasurer.

Hoerter and Spargo started new three-year terms Monday evening. Both were previously approved by the Mid-State Board Appointment Committee and the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

The Mid-State Board of Directors is organized to represent employees, employers and the general public throughout the district. The Board is responsible for district administration of technical and adult educational programs and services as authorized by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board according to state legislation. Board members are appointed by county board supervisors, serve on a voluntary basis and are not paid.

In other action the Board unanimously accepted notice of the retirement of Mid-State President Dr. Sue Budjac, effective July 1, 2017. Budjac’s service to the Wisconsin Technical College Systems has spanned over 32 years and a number of roles including instructor, vice president and college president. She has worked for more than 15 of those years at Mid-State, serving as college president since January 2011.

The next Mid-State Board of Directors meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 15, at the Wisconsin Rapids Campus. Committee meetings are scheduled to begin at 4:15 PM unless otherwise announced, with the regular Board meeting beginning at 5:20 PM.

To learn more about Mid-State programs and services, please call 888.575.6782 or visit the college’s website at www.mstc.edu.
