A 26-year-old man faces charges of methamphetamine possession, as well as others after a routine traffic stop turned up the discovery of illegal substances.

Ryan Polzin, of Marshfield, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and his third offense of operating while intoxicated.

According to police reports on Mar. 9 an officer observed a vehicle with tinted windows and different license plates on the front and back of the car. Once the window was rolled down, the officer could smell marijuana inside the vehicle.

Polzin allegedly admitted that his driver’s license was revoked for previous charges of operating while intoxicated. DOT records later confirmed this. A K-9 unit was brought out to do a sniff of the vehicle which resulted in a positive indication of controlled substances.

Inside the vehicle officers found marijuana, two pipes, and a small white glass-like rock which later tested positive for methamphetamine. Polzin was confirmed to be operating the vehicle under the influence of THC in his system.

If convicted, Polzin faces up to three years and six months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines. He also may have his driving privileges suspended anywhere from six months to five years.

Future court dates are pending.
