A 43-year-old man has been charged with domestic abuse and false imprisonment after police say he choked a family member.
Herbert Walton, of Marshfield, is charged with strangulation, false imprisonment, and battery.
According to police reports on June 8, a call was made regarding a domestic disturbance on the 300 block of W. Kalsched St. in Marshfield. The complainant alleged that Walton had been drinking all night and during an altercation restrained her. After yelling her and calling her offensive names, Walton threw her up against the wall.
Walton then told the complainant that the “house was dirty” and and put his left hand on her throat, restricting her airways. The complainant kneed Walton in the groin and escaped the house.
According to reports, she told police that Walton told her that “I could kill you right now and nobody would care.”
If convicted, Walton faces up to 12 years imprisonment and up to $20,000 for the charges. He will face a jury on Aug. 18.
