Robinson Park Softball Field to see Improvements

The Robinson Park south softball diamond will soon see much needed improvements.

Rob Schill, a representative of Assumption High School, spoke to the Parks and Recreation committee Wednesday night, stating necessary improvements for the heavily used park.

“We want to put our blood, sweat and tears into this,” said Schill. “We want to turn Robinson Park back to the beautiful park that it used to be.”

Requested improvements included fixing a non-working and dilapidated scoreboard, painting the concession stand, adding a new storage facility, infield groundwork, and the construction of a new batting cage.

While the committee was generally for the idea, they were hesitant to put taxpayer money into the scoreboard, as they called on city businesses to help raise money for the cost of repair — up to $3,000. The committee will help with other improvements, which will be taken out of the park outlay budget.

Robinson Park is located at 1150 17th St. North.
