A 38-year-old Marshfield man faces charges of threatening and spitting on an officer, as well as resisting arrest.

According to police reports, on May 26, an officer was dispatched to the intersection of St. Joseph Ave. and Western St. for a service call. The officer observed a vehicle stopped on the sidewalk with a man in the driver’s seat identified as Adam Sinclair.

The report states that the vehicle was still running, and Sinclair was yelling at and extending his middle finger to one of the officers. Sinclair was observed to have blood on his arm and face.

Sinclair told police that he was going to shoot them, and he also told them that he drank an excessive amount of alcohol that evening. Officers attempted to place Sinclair into custody to which he resisted, threatening that he would fight them.

An officer deployed an electronic control device, which put Sinclair to the ground, through he still resisted being handcuffed. Sinclair continued his threats, and spit on one of the officers while being placed into custody. Sinclair also made derogatory comments regarding one of the officer’s family members.

If convicted, Sinclair faces up to nine years and six months imprisonment and up to $20,000 in fines. He will face a jury on Nov. 29.
