City Accepting Applications for Citizens Police Academy

According to a city news release, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department is accepting applications for the citizens police academy.
The applicant must be 21 years or older, and apply before Sept. 26. There is no fee for this class, though it will be limited to 15 participants.
The class runs for 10 weeks, starting Oct. 10, every Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to drive squad cars, use police issued weapons, watch demonstrations, learn about drug investigations and more.
