The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters (WLCV) endorsed Nekoosa resident David Gorski on Monday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

Over 50 people were on hand for the press conference held by the river, as conservationists and water activists turned up to show their support for Representative Scott Krug’s Nov. 8 opponent in their battle over Wisconsin State Assembly District 72.

“Lakes, streams, and aquifers continue to dry up due to the over-pumping of groundwater in this area,” said WLCV political director Staush Gruszynski. “David Gorski has a history of integrity, hard work, and honesty — that’s why we know he’s the guy for the 72nd that is going to solve this issue.”

According to the WLCV, one of the most pressing issues facing the area is the depletion of groundwater in rural areas, due primarily to concentrated animal feeding operations. (CAFO’s)

“Government for the people, by the people — it’s not government for the people, by factory farms,” said Gorski. “Something has gone wrong, and it needs to change.”

The retired Nekoosa School District counselor is running against incumbent Scott Krug, who was elected to the 72nd district in 2010.

“Greed should not trump our responsibility to conserve what sustains us all,” said Gorski. “I am honored that the league of conservation voters has endorsed me.”
