Riverkings Stay Undefeated with Weekend Sweep

The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings return back home in first place (8-0) with two more wins and 4 points in the standings after beating Blaine 14-1 Friday, and 5-1 Saturday.
In Friday night’s game, the Riverkings blew open a 2-1 game early in the first period by scoring 12 unanswered goals. Balance scoring coming from twelve different skaters led by Riverkings leading scorer Reed Kaiser with six points.
Ryan Mantz had a hat-trick with 3 goals, Adam Peterson had two goals and one assist, and Austyn Quarters, Eric Hirshhaut and Kevin Van Bokkelen each had 3 assists. Harrison Kohl, Kurt LaPak both had two goals.
Dylan Torres and Kyle McCauley both had multiple points and Erik Schuette stopped 11 out of 12 shots to pick up his third win of the season.
Saturday nights game turned out to be slightly tighter match up for the league leading Riverkings, but the players still came out on top with a 5-1 win.
Reed Kaiser continued his hot streak by leading the way with two goals, and newcomer James Stiles added two assists, and looks to be a big improvement on the Riverkings D-core.
Rookie goalie Joey Fratantonio picked up his second win by stopping 16 of 17 shots.
The team returns to Minnesota next weekend to take on Forest Lake on Friday and Saturday before making a stop in in River Falls on Sunday to complete a three game weekend on the road.
