Local Man Charged With Narcotics Possession

By Joe Bachman
A Wisconsin Rapids man faces narcotics charges after officers found illegal substances in his possession.
According to a police report filed on Oct. 21, officers executed a search warrant at the 3000 block of County Rd. D in the Town of Cranmoor on Sept. 9. Authorities located the room of 21-year-old Ben-Jamin Bennett, and discovered marijuana, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic needles and cotton balls.
Also found was a baggie containing a black powdery substance later identified as methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) — a schedule I controlled substance.
MDPV can be commonly found in bath salts.
If convicted, Bennett faces a total of up to 15 years and six months imprisonment for charges of narcotics possession and multiple counts of bail jumping stemming from previous charges of fleeing an officer, and operating while intoxicated.
His initial appearance is slated for Nov. 21.
