A Nekoosa man faces charges of methamphetamine and cocaine possession, as well as resisting arrest after fleeing police during a traffic stop.
According to police reports, on Oct. 26, a traffic stop was initiated in the area of Market St. and Alexander Ave. in Nekoosa. As soon as the vehicles were stopped, a man opened the door to his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
After being chased through a neighborhood, police caught up to the man, identified as 27-year-old Jesse Koltz, and took him into custody.
Koltz consented to a search of the vehicle where police found a black backpack containing items of drug paraphernalia, a marijuana grinder, marijuana, and plastic straws. The straws carried a white residue on it, later tested and confirmed to be cocaine. Two small baggies of methamphetamine were also found in the backpack.
According to reports, Koltz allegedly admitted that the backpack was his and that he uses methamphetamine and heroin regularly. He told police he uses “whatever I can get”.
If convicted, Koltz faces up to six years imprisonment, and up to $20,000 in fines. Future court dates are currently pending.
