According to a news release by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, a report was filed regarding a nail inside a green sour apple Tootsie Roll candy on Halloween night.

While unsure of the exact location of where the candy was received, the child’s mother, who found the tampered candy, claimed that it possibly was in the areas of 21st Ave. South, Clark St., and by the library in the city of Nekoosa.

Wisconsin Rapids police advise that all parents check over their children’s Halloween candy, and dispose of any suspicious looking candy that may have unsealed or broken packaging.

Residents who have any information are encouraged to text Wood County Crime Stoppers at 274637, or call 1-877-325-7867. You can also visit www.woodcountycrimestoppers.com.
