Riverkings Make History in Boston
City Times Staff
The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings made history this weekend.
After traveling to Boston for the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) showcase, the Riverkings defeated the New Jersey Hitman to become the first team from the USPHL Midwest Division to win a game against a USPHL East Elite division team.
Boston native Dylan Torres helped the Riverkings jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first half (showcase rules comprised of playing two 25 minute periods), Antonio Demacopoulos and Jen Senkerik both assisted. The Hitman finally got on the board with eight minutes to play and jumped ahead just 42 seconds later to go up 2-1.
This lasted for almost four minutes until Adam Peterson evened the score at 2-2 with Austyn Quarters and Harrison Kohl assisting. Austyn Quarters scored the game winner a few shifts later with an assist from Peterson and James Stiles.
Riverkings goalie, Erik Schuette picked up his 10th win as he stood tall in net helping his team improve to 15-1 on the season.
The Riverkings have two games tomorrow as they take on Team Beijing at 7:10 a.m. and against the Charlotte Rush at 4:40 p.m. at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
