Two Marshfield brothers face charges of narcotics possession after police caught them speeding.

According to reports, on Nov. 17, police initiated a traffic stop near the 100 block of Purdy Ave. for traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers identified the driver as 25-year-old Justin Dix, and asked him to step out of the vehicle. They also found 26-year-old Jered Dix hiding in the front passenger position of the vehicle.

After Jered stepped out of the vehicle, police found a spoon in his pocket which contained burnt residue, as well as a syringe in his pants with an unknown liquid substance believed to be heroin. After a search of the vehicle, police located another syringe and a bindle where Justin was sitting, containing what was later confirmed to be heroin.

Jered was out on bail at that time stemming from prior charges of methamphetamine possession, and was to commit no further crimes.

If convicted, the two face up to three years and six months imprisonment, and up to $10,000 in fines. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2.
