Senator-Elect Speaks at Pearl Harbor Ceremony

75 years ago, today — a day that would live in infamy.

The Wisconsin Rapids Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2534 held their Pearl Harbor Ceremony today, with a special performance by the Assumption Royals Band, a chili lunch, and a speech by District 24 State Senator-Elect Patrick Testin.
“We consider it a privilege to be able to honor the sacrifice and dedication of our military members.” said Commander Tom Sachs.

On Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese forces led a surprise attack on the Naval base at Pearl Harbor. This attack would be the catalyst for U.S. involvement in World War II. The ceremony started with a few songs by the Assumption High School Band, followed by words from Commander Tom Sachs.
Afterwards, Senator-Elect Testin took the podium to give his thoughts on that fateful day.
“The attack on Pearl Harbor stunned our nation and brought America into the second world war,” said Testin. “Today’s anniversary is a stark reminder that a singe day can change the course of history.”
