This fall the Cosmetology program at Mid-State Technical College deepened its commitment to quality by becoming the first school salon in the state of Wisconsin to use the Reference of Sweden (REF) color and product line.

Used in 29 different countries, REF products are known for their vegan-only ingredients and technologically advanced formulations that work perfectly with the full spectrum of multicultural hair types.

The decision to begin using REF in The Salon@Mid-State resulted from the college’s partnership with Jim Marcks, president of Brava Salon Specialists. Marcks helps Mid-State’s Cosmetology program explore ways to evolve with the industry and offer the highest-quality and industry-relevant preparation.

“Becoming the state’s first REF school salon provides important opportunities for the college’s students and staff,” Marcks said.  “Mid-State’s progressive and quality-minded leadership fits in perfectly with our company’s philosophy and is one of the reasons our salon partners are excited to hire Mid-State graduates.”

“We look to business partners like Jim Marcks to keep us in touch with the latest industry trends and insights,” said Missy Skurzewski-Servant, dean of General Education and Business programs at Mid-State. “Bringing REF products into our school salon is just another way we pursue the highest-quality educational experience that best prepares our students for success in the workforce.”

The Salon@Mid-State is open to the public and offers a variety of beauty and hair care services, including cuts, color, manicures, pedicures and facials. Daytime and evening hours are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Make an appointment by calling 715-422-5531.
