By Joe Bachman
A fire raged through a Wisconsin Rapids foundry early this morning.
According to WRFD Captain Chuck Peters, at 6:07 a.m. a fire was reported at Northern Castings Foundry on 9th Ave. South after a passing patrol officer noticed the blaze. It is believed that the last person to leave the foundry left shortly after 3:00 a.m.
The roof of the building collapsed on one side of the building and suffered extreme damage. Nobody was believed to be in the building during the fire. Firefighters gained control and put out the fire at around 8:30 a.m.
The foundry currently employs around 100 employees at that location. The fire is currently under investigation as the cause is yet to be determined.
