Mid-State’s ‘Destination Registration’ Set for Jan. 6 & 7
For the City Times
Mid-State Technical College will be hosting ‘Destination Registration’ on its Marshfield campus Jan. 6 followed by the Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids campuses Jan. 7.
This popular one-stop event gives new and returning students a chance to complete all of the required steps for application and registration in one convenient visit. The $30 application fee is waived at the event, and all participants will also have their names entered in a drawing for one of three Fitbit activity trackers and Mid-State merchandise.
Destination Registration kicks off with Mid-State staff assisting in application completion, followed by a STAR presentation to set each student up with a student account. This is followed by the Accuplacer assessment if needed, academic advising to ensure optimal course selection and registration. Students whose program of choice does not require the Accuplacer will move straight into academic advising and registration. Anyone who has taken the Accuplacer within the last five years may bring those scores to the event in lieu of repeating the assessment.
“Destination Registration brings together key staff in Mid-State’s enrollment, student services and financial aid offices to help students navigate the process in one visit,” said Betsy Leonard, new student specialist at Mid-State. “It’s extremely satisfying to be able to save time and money for our students while removing roadblocks to their success, and I always look forward to personally welcoming them to the Mid-State family.”
The start time for each event is 8:45 a.m., and participants generally complete all steps in less than four hours. Students who don’t need to take the Accuplacer may be finished in as few as two hours.
