Riverkings Split Weekend Series with Lakers

City Times Staff
The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings improved to 20-4 on the season after splitting their two-game series with the Forest Lake Lakers.
On Friday night, the Riverkings would see themselves in a 3-0 deficit going into the third period. Goals by Austyn Quarters and Kevin Van Bokkelen closed the gap, but it wasn’t enough as the first place Riverkings fell 3-2 to the Lakers.
Saturday night was a different story, as the Riverkings bounced back in dominating fashion with a 4-0 over the Lakers.
Two goals by Reed Kaiser contributed to the effort, as well as Quarters and Van Bokkelen, who both put pucks in the back of the net. Ryan Mantz had three assists on the night, as well as an assist by Adam Peterson. Iceland native Alti Valdimarsson put on a stellar performance in net with 20 saves in the shutout win.
The first place Riverkings host the Dells Ducks at home on Friday night at the South Wood County Recreation Center. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
