Wood County News Release

The Wood County Park and Forestry Department would like to give public notice regarding our Winter Recreation Openings.

The Wood County Snowmobile trails will open on Dec. 23, 2016 at 8:00 am. Please use caution as trail conditions will vary. On portions of their trails, the swamps are not frozen over yet and are unable to carry or hold a groomer so those portions are not groomed. Watch for ungroomed water crossings.

As a reminder, each snowmobile needs to have a Wisconsin Snowmobile Trail Pass. For a discounted rate, join a snowmobile club today. A big thank you to our clubs who signed, packed and groomed the trails for us and to all of the landowners because without them, the trail system would not be possible.

For more information, and a link to the snowmobile map outlining all club trail sections as well as a list of the Wood County Snowmobile Clubs, please visit our website at www.co.wood.wi.us/Snowmobiling.

The Powers Bluff Recreational Area will open for the season on Dec. 26, 2016 at 10:00 am. During Christmas break, Powers Bluff will be open Monday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Jan. 1.
