For the City Times

Once again the Wood County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the Safe Ride Home Program on New Year’s Eve.

Sheriff Thomas Reichert and Tavern League member Dave Hahn started the program in 2007 and Safe Ride has taken place ever since.

“The initiative has been a novel partnership between the Tavern League and the Sheriff’s Department,” said Reichert. “The program has worked exceptionally well and has been a lot of fun for everyone involved.”

Reichert also said that the program has received press inquiries from all over the United States.

Enjoy your evening, but if you’ve had too much to drink and need a safe ride home, please call 715-459-2290. Captain Shawn Becker of the Sheriff’s Department along with Wood County Tavern League member Dave Hahn will be providing safe rides home throughout the evening in Wood County.

Rides will start at 11:00 p.m. and run until approximately 3:00 a.m. A special thanks to 8th St. Auto for providing a vehicle for the program.
