A Wisconsin Rapids landmark will get additional upgrades for refurbishment.
The Finance & Property Committee officially approved a contract between the city and Van Ert Electric Company for additional light fixtures. The scope of work will cost $1,086.53, and will be funded by the Mead-Witter Foundation.
This is in addition to work already approved, the The Memorial Clock and Bell Tower will receive a new door, lighting, framework, and a bell clapper. The 55-foot landmark has been standing since 1892. It recently had work done on the exterior in 1990.
The estimated date of completion is sometime in Spring, where a re-dedication ceremony is likely.
