Right-Handers Schramm and Williams add to pitching depth

Following a season in which Xavier University product Garrett Schilling set the franchise record with 18 saves, the Rafters announced a new pair of Musketeer teammates are set to join the team in 2017. Right-handers Trey Schramm and David Williams are the newest additions from the Xavier program it was announced today.

“We’re elated to continue our partnership with Xavier University for the upcoming season,” said Rafters general manager John Fanta. “Both of the pitchers that are set to join us are coming from a great program and have a lot of upside.

Trey Schramm made a name for himself in his first season with Xavier in 2016. The righty saw success by posting a 4-0 record in 27 appearances out of the bullpen. After graduating from Hampshire High School in Pingree Grove, Illinois, the Musketeers hit his stride as a freshman and tallied a 3.65 ERA, which was fourth on the team. He posted a miniscule ERA of 1.80 in BIG East play. Schramm is set to compete in his sophomore season this spring with a vital role on the Xavier pitching staff. While at Hampshire High School, the pitcher dominated his junior season. That season he posted a 0.46 ERA and struck out 41 batters in nearly 31 innings. He garnered Fox Valley First Team All-Conference in baseball, while competing in basketball and football.

Joining Schramm from Xavier is David Williams. Williams is a hard throwing, right-handed pitcher who is set to take the hill this spring for the first time as a Musketeer. As a member of the Holland Christian High School baseball team, the righty won a state championship as a senior. He helped guide the team to a 36-6 record. The Milford, Michigan native went 4-1 on the mound as a junior, striking out 28 batters.

The season and home opener for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters is May 30th at 7:05 against the Kenosha Kingfish. Solarus Founders Club, bleacher 9-Game ticket packages, and group outing packages are on sale now. Call 715-424-5400 or stop by the Rafters Front Office Monday-Friday from 9-5 to purchase a ticket package or book a group outing.
