For the City Times

Did you ever want the halftime show to just keep going?

Now’s your chance to take in more than two hours of halftime entertainment. Experience a synchronized musical extravaganza, incorporating original compositions with soul-infused interpretations of top-40 hits, choreographed routines with vibrant costumes, and heavy drum riffs and cadences.

Join the Performing Arts Center as the Arts Council of South Wood County rolls out its fifth show of the season on Friday, February 17, at 7:30 pm, with DRUMLine Live.

This show-stopping attraction created by the music team behind 20th Century Fox’s hit movie, “Drumline,” has paraded onto some of the biggest theatre stages in America, Japan, and Korea and performed more than 300 shows since 2009.

With musical highlights from hip-hop, American soul, gospel, jazz, and other music genres, DRUMLine Live brings a unique style of drumming and mesmerizing musicianship. Complete with dazzling choreography and explosive percussion, DRUMLine Live is a thrilling spectacle that pays homage to the show-style marching popularized at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The timing is perfect as the troupe embarks on a “Black History Month” tour for the month of February.

With riveting rhythms, bold beats, and ear-grabbing energy, DRUMLine Live showcases the legendary HBCU experience. The experience comes alive with the world-class cast of percussionists, musicians, and dancers. The 35-member cast of performers honed its unrivaled talent with years of training in marching band programs across the United States at such places as Florida A&M University, Tennessee State University, and Southern University, to name a few.

“We’ve taken the excitement of an HBCU football game halftime show, increased the intensity by a thousand watts, and created a musical journey that will touch every emotion,” said Don P. Roberts, Creator and Director of DRUMLine Live. “DRUMLine Live is a high-octane musical roller coaster ride that will keep the entire family cheering for more.”

The show caters not only to HBCU attendees, but to those who have never gotten a chance to witness the energy and talent of an HBCU halftime show. Audiences across the globe have been brought to their feet by the stirring sound of trumpets and incredible feats of athleticism.

They have been astonished by the precision, creativity, and pulsating force in the climactic percussion battle. DRUMLine Live will provide you with a mind-blowing experience you will want to be a part of again and again!

Before you buy, check out the “DRUMLine Live Commercial” on YouTube. Then buy your tickets at www.SavorTheArts.org, stop by the Arts Council, located at 1040 8th St. South, Suite 101 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or call 715-424-2787.

Cost is $43. Band instructors in the area should contact the Arts Council directly for special student pricing.

Special thanks to the Mead Witter Foundation, this show’s generous sponsor.
