‘Score more goals’ — the motto for the Riverkings this weekend.

In their two game stretch, the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings put up 18 goals over a two night span in their match-up against the Detroit Fighting Irish. On Friday night, they were nothing short of flawless, as nine different players found the back of the net.

Kevin Van Bokkelen, Reed Kaiser, and Adam Peterson all contributed to first period goals, with James Stiles picking up one of his own in the second period. Going into the third period the Riverkings held a comfortable 4-0 lead, but they weren’t done yet.

Max Borque, Austyn Quarters, Richard Young, Kurt LePak and Harrison Kohl went on a collective third period attack, all contributing goals of their own. Reed Kaiser would add in his second of the game in a dominant 10-0 shutout win over the Fighting Irish.

Goalie Erik Schuette went perfect on the night slapping away 18 shots on goal.

On Saturday, the story was the same, as the Riverkings exploded out the gate with three first period goals by Tyler Albitz, Reed Kaiser, and Antonio Demacopoulos. Ryan Mantz and Michael Kelly added second period goals sending the game into the third with the Riverkings up 5-0.

Harrison Kohl, Adam Peterson, and Kurt LePak kept the scoring consistent by putting up three more goals, as the Riverkings triumphed in their weekend series with a 8-1 win over Detroit. Goalie Joe Fratantonio made 12 out of 13 saves on the night.

With only weeks left in the season, the first place Riverkings head into a three game series with the Chicago Cougars, one of which is part of the Heritage Classic, held at the MB Financial Park Ice Rink in Rosemont, Ill.
