City Encourages Businesses to Take Part in Beautification Projects

The city is looking for the help of local businesses to keep Wisconsin Rapids beautiful.
Each year the Mayor’s Council on Beautification takes on projects around the city to help make Wisconsin Rapids a more beautiful place to live, work, and visit. They have done projects such as community clean-ups, plantings around the community, and the vibrant hanging flower baskets downtown during the summer months.
This year, one of the projects is looking for the help of local businesses. Under the guidance of Mayor Zach Vruwink and District 3 Alderperson Scott Kellogg, the Mayor’s Council is creating a Business Beautification Awards program.
“Not only do more vibrant businesses look good, they are often more successful and create more jobs,” said Vruwink. “This effort will positively encourage businesses to spruce themselves up and most importantly, will give deserving recognition for those making the investment to improve or maintain their business presence.”
This program is still in an early stage and the city is looking for volunteers to help get this off the ground.
“Our business districts, like 8th Street, have an important impression on residents and visitors to our city,” said Kellogg. “With even more visitors coming into our community in 2017, this is even more important.”
