Toddler’s Death Sparks Ongoing Investigation

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department have released information on the death of a 15-month-old child.
According to the release, on Feb. 4, paramedics from the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, along with officers from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department responded to a residence on Big Oak Rd. for a report that a 15-month-old child was not breathing.
Paramedics treated and transferred the child to Aspirus Riverview, and later to St. Joseph’s Ministry in Marshfield on Feb. 6, where the child passed away.
An initial investigation has revealed physical trauma to his upper-body. An autopsy has been conducted at the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. Results are currently pending.
The father of the child was the 911 caller and is currently being held at Wood County Jail on probation hold. The investigation is ongoing.
