Accident Closes Part of State Highway 80

State Highway 80 near Lonesome Rd. in the Township of Remington is closed until further notice due to a morning accident.

According to a news release by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 5:30 a.m. an accident was reported involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-trailer. The vehicle struck the rear axle of the trailer, after the the semi attempted to avoid a collision once the passenger vehicle crossed the centerline into the southbound lane.

The driver was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Pittsville Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. County road crews are still in the process of cleaning the debris from the road.

The crash is still under investigation.
