For the City Times

A Wisconsin Rapids television/online program showcases notable achievements of American military veterans across a span of international conflicts.

“Thank You for Your Service” spotlights the unique sacrifice and dedication of military veterans who reside in our area. The program is hosted and produced by Junior Vice Commander Tom Heiser of local VFW Post 2534. Heiser records the episodes at the studio of Wisconsin Rapids Community Media (WRCM), a division of the City of Wisconsin Rapids’ Innovation & Technology Department along with his volunteers who are also trained through Wisconsin Rapids Community Media’s Multimedia staff.

“These veterans are true heroes that walk among us everyday,” said Heiser

Guests on the program have included representatives from World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars. This past January Heiser interviewed Betty Vogt, one of the original WAVES (Women Accepted for Emergency Service) who enlisted for duty with the U.S. Navy while barely out of her teens during World War II.

“Thank You for Your Service” airs on WRCM’s streaming link at wisconsinrapidscommunitymedia.com, Solarus highdefinition channel 3 and Charter standard-definition channel 985 on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

Viewers can also catch the program anytime, on demand, at wisconsinrapidscommunitymedia.com.
