Riverkings Advance to National Championship in Boston
by Joe Bachman
The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings are shipping up to Boston.
They finished off the Chicago Cougars Friday night with a 7-5 victory in semifinal action. This will send the Riverkings to Boston for the Elite Midwest U.S. Premier Hockey League Finals.
Playing in front of one of their biggest crowds to date, four Riverkings put up seven goals between them. Kevin Van Bokkelen, Austyn Quarters, and Ryan Mantz all picked up goals in the winning effort, with Mantz assisting on two of the seven.
In a notably different, and faster paced affair compared to Thursday night’s defensive struggle, goalie Erik Schuette made 28 out of 33 saves to help send Wisconsin Rapids to Boston. The Riverkings have been perfect so far in their playoff run, and have won their last 14 games.
