Local heroes were honored during National Guard and Army Reserve Appreciation Day last week.
March 22 marked an appearance by Wisconsin Rapids’ own Brigadier General Mark E. Anderson, as well as several members from the local armory. Anderson spoke to over 120 on hand for the gathering.
“Afterwards he hung around, and so did all of the guard members,” said Heroes’ Cafe founder Bill Haack. “It was nice to have him there.”
Army recruiters from Stevens Point were also in attendance. At the Heroes’ Cafe on March 29, there will be a special presentation from the Camp American Legion.
The Heroes’ Cafe is located at 1000 E. Riverview Expressway.
