Riverkings Marty Quarters Recognized as Coach of the Year
For the City Times
Riverkings Marty Quarters has been recognized as Coach of the Year of the USPHL Elite.
Coach Quarters has over 20 years of experience behind the bench and includes stops in the NCCA D1, USHL, NAHL and Tier One AAA. He has also led teams to nationals at almost every level, including a USHL Clark Cup runner up when he was Assistant Coach of the Sioux City Musketeers in 2004-05.
Coach Quarters had the privilege of learning from one of the best, as he spent three seasons in Sioux City assisting USHL legend Dave Siciliano.
“This award is a honor, but I look at it as a team award, because without assistant coach Wayne Brown, our players, owner John Schwarz, staff, fans, and volunteers this team would never have had the possibility of having the outstanding season we had this year,” said Quarters. “Being recognized is nice, but what is really does is keep us focused on working hard as we continue to motivate players to be the best they can be through this great game. My dad always told me if do something you love, it will never be work. I can say without question I loved coming to the rink everyday this season because of the players and team he had, it was a fun season, thank you.”
