Students at Mid-State Technical College now have more options for flexible and affordable pathways to a bachelor’s degree and in-demand career preparation, thanks to two new transfer agreements between Mid-State Technical College and its higher-education partners at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the UW Extension.

In a new transfer agreement with UW-Stevens Point, Mid-State students who have earned the associate degree in Health Information Management will be awarded 42 credits upon entry to the UW-Stevens Point School of Health Care Professions, Health Information Management Technology major. After transferring, students are able to complete their program at UW-Stevens Point entirely online.

In a second transfer agreement, Health Information Management Technology (HIMT) students at UW-Stevens Point, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, and UW-Parkside can transfer into the Medical Coder technical diploma program at Mid-State with all but five courses in the credential satisfied. The agreement is the first of its kind the between the UW Extension and Mid-State.

“These new partnerships illustrate how Mid-State and its university partners are innovating to make college affordable for students,” said Jason Schenzel, an associate dean of Mid-State’s Business programs. “The agreements provide new educational opportunities for Mid-State graduates to pursue a bachelor’s degree with a seamless transfer of credits to UW-Stevens Point as well as for UW students in the HIMT program to deepen their medical coding skills and bolster their success in the industry.”
