City Times Staff
Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre (WRCT) is giving the first of two free performances of D.L. Coburn’s The Gin Game on Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the WRCT auditorium at the Centralia Center in the Rapids Mall.
WRCT is currently competing in the American Association of Community Theatre’s bi-annual nationwide play competition. In February, the group won the state competition along with a production from cwACT in Stevens Point.
Both groups will be competing at the five-state regional competition in Champaign, Ill. at the end of the month. From there, winners advance to the national competition in Rochester, Minn. June 26 – July 1.
The second benefit performance will be Tuesday, April 18, also at 7:00 p.m. in the WRCT auditorium. Though the performances are free, they are designed to raise funds for the costs associated with competing – registration fees, rooms, gas, etc.
For the regional competition, costs are approximately $2500.
