Frisco Jazz Band to Play Wisconsin Rapids
City Times Staff
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Catch a piece of jazz history at a very special performance at the McMillan Library.
Bob Schulz Frisco Jazz Band will be playing the Fine Arts Center inside McMillan Library on April 27 at 7:00 p.m. Schulz is considered one of ‘America’s best traditional jazz cornet players’. While Schulz travels all over the country, he often returns home to his home state of Wisconsin to play for jazz-lovers in Madison and Wisconsin Rapids.
The upcoming concert will be inspired by the music of Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, and other jazz legends. The Frisco Jazz band started in 1989, and patterned it after Bon Scobey’s Frisco Band during the 50s and 60s. Schulz was a found member of Wisconsin’s Riverboat Ramblers in 1979, and joined Turk Murphy’s Jazz Band in the same year.
