‘Money Smart Week’ Kicks off April 22

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A week long series of programs will be geared towards those wanting to become “money smart.”

In partnership with the United Way’s Financial Stability Coalition, local schools and businesses will be providing free financial education. April 22-27 will mark “Money Smart Week” with multiple presentations and classes spread out over the week.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, April 22
–Money Smart Week Kick-Off at Children’s Festival. Children can enter to win a free piggy bank. This event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lincoln High School.

Monday, April 24
Rent Smart
-“How Much Does Rent Cost?” and “Locating & Inspecting Rental Properties.” are the classes for this day, offered from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Wood County Courthouse, and from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at McMillan Library..

Tuesday, April 25
Credit: What is it and how do I build it?
-Learn how to build and maintain good credit from a panel of experts. This will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln High School, Room 210.

Wednesday, April 26
Am I Ready for Retirement?
-A panel of experts will delve into what goes into preparing for retirement. This is offered at two times — the first from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., both at River Cities Bank.

Thursday, April 27
Becoming Money $mart
-This class will educate others on how to handle day-to-day spending, achieve financial goals, and other important financial facets. This will be held inside the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
