‘New Rider’s Seminar’ Offered by Central Wisconsin BMX

If you have ever been interested in taking to the local BMX track, next Saturday is your chance.
Central Wisconsin BMX in Wisconsin Rapids will be hosting a ‘New Rider’s Seminar’ on Saturday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. This gives aspiring riders a chance to check out the track and take part in BMX racing.
Registration is at 12:30 p.m. that day, and according to track operator Kris Statz, many riders take a vested interested in racing even before trying out the track.
“This seminar alone we get a certain percentage that sign up right away,” said Statz. “They go out, they try it, they hear about it, and they’re ready to go.”
For those ready and willing to take to the track, the seminar is free, and riders are able to race without a membership for the first time. The only expense to the riders is an annual membership to USA BMX, and the awards (entry fees) they’re aiming to race for.
For those who still want in on the action, but may not have the right equipment, loaner bikes and helmets are available. Equipment brought in by riders are checked out by BMX staff. It is recommended that riders wear long sleeved shirts and long pants.
“The seminar starts with information to everybody about us as an organization; that we’re non-profit volunteer, and what we do for the community and how we give back,” said Statz. “Then we start to walk the kids through the different parts of the facility, and what a race day would be like.”
