Kubisiak Donates $500 to Mayor’s Youth Council for Aquatics Fundraising

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — What’s the best nation in the world? Donation.
New District 7 Alderperson Thaddeus Kubisiak presented a check for $500 to members of the Mayor’s Youth Council on Wednesday afternoon. On April 6, the council announced an ambitious fundraising goal of $250,000 to go towards the city’s coming aquatics facility.
“Something I know first hand is that fundraising is tough,” said Kubisiak as he addressed the council. “The cool thing is that once you guys start learning this right now, it’s going to give you skills for the rest of your life.”
Members of the council held a “mad minute” at the April 6 aquatics presentation, where they raised over $300 in only 60 seconds. This in turn inspired Kubisiak to donate some of his own money to the cause.
“I think sometimes discouragement is beneficial — because sometimes you’re fundraising and you’re knocking on doors, talking with people, and you might get a door closed on your face nine times out of 10,” said Kubisiak. “However, that one time makes the difference.”
