Based on preliminary information, the semi-truck was southbound on State Highway 54, and the car was eastbound on Chestnut St. The driver of the semi-truck reported no injuries, however, an 88-year-old driver of the other vehicle died at the scene of the accident.

Local authorities were assisted by the Grand Rapids Police Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Rapids Street Department, and the Wood County Coroner’s Office.

The names of those involved in the crash are currently being withheld. The accident is currently under investigation.
