Middle School Principal Receives Kohl Leadership Award
For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A $6,000 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2017 Leadership Award was presented to Tracy Ginter, Principal at Wisconsin Rapids Area Middle School in Wisconsin Rapids at a recognition luncheon hosted by Herb Kohl, Wisconsin philanthropist and businessman.
The middle school will receive a matching $6,000 grant as well.
In March, principals receiving the award were informed that they and their schools would be awarded $3,000 grants, but in a surprise announcement at the recognition luncheon, Herb Kohl revealed that he was doubling the size of the award.
The Herb Kohl Leadership Award recognizes principals for setting high standards for instruction, achievement and character, and creating a climate to best serve students, families, staff, and community. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has been recognizing educational excellence annually since 1990. The foundation established the Leadership Award in 2016 to recognize 16 outstanding Wisconsin preK-12 principals each year. Since it was established in 1990, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has awarded $11.7 million to Wisconsin students, teachers, principals and schools.
