Letter: Help Celebrate National Nurses Week May 6-12
To the Editor:
In celebration of National Nurses Week, which is May 6-12, it is our honor to pay tribute to the nurses at Aspirus Riverview Hospital & Clinics, as well as to all other nurses within our community. We thank them for their commitment, dedication, compassion and outstanding professionalism.
Nurses today have earned new respect, not only as caregivers, but also as educators, researchers, innovators and leaders. At this point in time, the nursing profession is poised to change the face of health care within our nation.
Nurses are there to coach a new mom through the delivery of her first child, to reassure an anxious child going into surgery, to calm a frightened patient with chest pain in the emergency room, to guide a patient coping with a life-changing illness, to counsel a patient suffering with mental illness, and ultimately to help relieve suffering at the end of life. In all these situations and more, nurses work with their hands and feet, but it is their hearts and minds that take their care from ordinary to extraordinary.
We wish to say a personal thank you to each and every nurse. We also invite everyone in our community to take a moment this week to thank a nurse for his or her dedication to the provision of exceptional, compassionate care.
Sincerely,
Kim Johnson, VP-Patient Services/Chief Nursing Officer &The Entire Aspirus Riverview Nursing Leadership Team
