WISCONSIN RAPIDS – United Way of Inner Wisconsin has released its 2017 Help Guide for South Wood County.

It has been distributed to schools, non-profit organizations, government entities, churches, medical organizations, businesses, libraries, and human service agencies throughout south Wood County. A Help Guide has gone home with each elementary-aged student in the Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa and Port Edwards School Districts. Help Guides will also be distributed at events such as Mobile Food Pantries, etc.

This year, 14,000 Help Guides were printed with the help of a Bridge Grant from Incourage. The Help Guide asks questions that families and individuals who are going through a difficult situation may be asking, such as “How do I apply for unemployment?” “Where can I locate subsidized housing or rental assistance?” or “Where can I go for food?”

The Help Guide answers those questions and provides a brief description of each program including a phone number and web address.  All information in the Help Guide is provided by United Way’s 2-1-1.

The Help Guide for South Wood County is also available in Spanish and Hmong; as well as a 2017 Help Guide for Adams County.

If your business or organization deals with vulnerable populations (clients and/or employees) and you would like to display/distribute the Help Guide, please call the United Way office at 715-421-0390 or send an email to Angie Loucks at [email protected].
