The Kommissioners to Bring “Funky Folk Rock” to Rapids Music Fest
By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Friends of Rapids Music (FRM) Music Fest is taking over Robinson Park on June 17, and one of the featured acts is a local band called “The Kommissioners”.
The Kommissioners are a four-piece band that according to bassist Kyle DeWitt are dubbed “funky folk rock”. The band released “Whistler’s Brother” as their debut album and have a second currently in the works. If there’s anything to be said about this local act, it’s that of variety.
“We play quite a range of music,” said DeWitt. “Our originals we’ve been doing for the better part of three years now.”
Formed six years ago, The Kommissioners play a mix of originals and well-known covers at their shows. Taking inspirations from such acts as Led Zeppelin and The Who, to the Everly Brothers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it’s a sound unlike anything in the Music Fest lineup that the many fans expected in attendance will get to experience.
“They’re getting a good mix of easy to listen to music, and some dance tunes, as well.”
You can catch The Kommissioners at Rapids Music Fest at the 4:00 p.m. spot in the lineup. To check them out, please click here.
