Aqua Skiers to Open Season at Blossomfest

By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — State champion Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers will be opening their season as a part of Cranberry Blossomfest this year.
As Blossomfest continues to grow, so does the excitement from the Aqua Skiers, who get to perform their new show for the first time this year. The four-day festival will feature 26 unique events, and the Aqua Skiers have the honor of closing out the festival on Sunday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Wazeecha.
“We’re super excited that our first show can be a part of the Cranberry Blossom Festival,” said 10-year Aqua Skier veteran and Wisconsin Waterski Federation Delegate Jordan Becker. “The team loves that it’s how we’re going to kickoff our season.”
Now competing in Division I, the stakes are higher than ever, and with it, a new theme for 2017 — “Crusin’ to Cajun Country” — The storyline of the show will feature the aqua skiers taking a road trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, as well as making a few stops along the way.
“It’s going to be something different that people haven’t seen from us in the past few years,” said Becker. “This is something new to us and we’re really excited. We have all new costumes, and new equipment. We have some big plans for our show this year.”
Last year, the Aqua Skiers and Wisconsin Rapids hosted the World Waterski Show Tournament, and as tradition, will host the State Waterski Show Tournament this July. For more information on Cranberry Blossomfest, please visit http://blossomfest.com/events/
