WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A Riverkings player has committed to play Division I hockey this year.

Forward Tyler Albitz has committed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to play in American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I competition. Albitz nearly doubled his points during his second season with the Riverkings, racking up 22 goals and 21 assists for the USPHL Midwest Elite Champions.

According to Head Coach Marty Quarters, Albitz’s expertise on penalty killing and shot blocking helped provide his D1 opportunity.

“Tyler had a great season and has helped the Riverkings form our culture and identity because of his hard work each and every day,” said Quarters. “Tyler’s ‘team first’ approach showed in the way he sacrificed his body to block shots, and this skill set helped Tyler become an everyday top forward in our line-up. We are very proud of Tyler and wish him success at IUP.”
