WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 42-year-old local man faces multiple drug charges after attempting to flee police.

According to police reports, on May 28, a traffic stop was initiated on Alton St. in suspicion that the driver of the vehicle was Kenneth Slattery, who currently had a warrant out for his arrest. After activating the patrol car siren, Slattery would quickly speed up and accelerate up to speeds as high as 60 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone in an attempt to elude police.

The defendant pulled into a driveway on the 300 block of 13th Ave. South and ran towards the front door in an attempt to enter the home. An officer grabbed hold of Slattery before he could enter, causing him to fall to the ground inside the doorway of the residence.

Slattery allegedly yelled at the officer to “get out” and tried pushing the officer out of the door. He was soon apprehended by police moments after.

Inside, police found a Ziploc baggie containing methamphetamine, as well as heroin and marijuana. According to court documents, Slattery appeared in court on April 10 for the charge of forgery, and was currently out on bond not to commit any further crimes.

If convicted, Slattery faces up to 13 years imprisonment, and up to $30,000 in fines. His next day in court is scheduled for June 15.
