Riverkings Sign Rising Defenseman to Roster
By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Division Champion Riverkings have signed an Ohio native for this coming season.
Trent Bubanic hails from Canton, Ohio, and the 6’2 defenseman played youth hockey for the AAA Cleveland Jacks before playing two seasons for thee USPHL Carolina Eagles, and now with the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings.
According to Riverkings Head Coach Marty Quarters, his relationship with Bubanic goes all the way back to Cleveland, where he knew his father in his time there.
“Having seen Trent grow and mature this last year is a great indication that he is ready to take his game to a higher level,” said Quarters. “Trent’s on and off ice work ethic are keys to his increased development.”
However, it’s not just his work ethic and size that makes Bubanic such a desirable hockey prospect.
“What really separates Trent from others is his character, “team first” approach, and ability to lead and get along with his teammates. Trent has great size, makes a good first pass, and is very responsible in his own zone. His hard work has really helped with his conditioning and quickness”.
