Rapid Fire: Blossomfest Edition

In this special edition of Rapid Fire, we highlight the top five events to check out at this weekend’s Cranberry Blossomfest. Blossomfest will feature 26 unique events from Thursday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18 — all happening in the Wisconsin Rapids area.

Thursday, June 15
Fourth Annual Chalk it Up — 5:30 p.m. (W. Grand Ave. between 2nd and 3rd Ave. South)
“We’ve seen a lot of things from Cranberry Guy to the Minions dressed as Marvel Comic Superheroes.”

-Growing bigger by the year, ‘Chalk it Up’ comes right before the annual ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ and will feature some of the best local area artists do what they do best. For more information on this event, please click here.

Friday, June 16
‘Beer & Cheese: A Downtown Block Party’ — 6:00 p.m. (2nd St. North between Jackson and Oak St.)
“Our goal for this event is to really highlight the downtown businesses and the beauty of it all.”

-Beer and cheese — two very easy ways to bring the community together. Sponsored by Hollyrock’s Tavern, Karen’s Wine’s & Steins, Whiskey Rapids, and Jenning’s Bar, the event will feature craft beers, local cheeses, and more. For more information, please click here.

Saturday, June 17
Kids to Parks Day — 1:00 p.m. (Robinson Park; 1941 Apricot St..)
“This event is the second annual Kids to Park Day, to encourage children and families to get outdoors and play”

-Kids to Parks Day is hosted by the city and will feature a plethora of kids activities to promote outdoors play and health. For more information on the event, please click here.

Saturday, June 17
FRM Music Fest — 10:30 a.m. (Robinson Park, 1150 17th St. North.)
“Wisconsin Rapids is a very talented and generous community so because of the abundance of local musical talent we have and the generous contributions by local businesses, individuals and organizations, we hope to have another great day celebrating music and community during Blossom Fest here in Rapids.”

-Friends of Rapids Music (FRM) Music Fest is back for its second year, and will feature nine bands from around the area and even to Madison. For more information, please click here.

Sunday, June 18
Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Performance — 6:00 p.m. (Lake Wazeecha)
“It’s going to be something different that people haven’t seen from us in the past few years”

-Check out State Champion Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers first performance of the year, as they close out Blossomfest on Sunday. For more information, please click here.

Saturday, June 17
Rafters Baseball vs. Woodchucks — 7:00 p.m. (Witter Field)
-Catch the red hot defending league champions in action on Saturday night as a part of Cranberry Blossomfest festivities. Moe Hill will be on hand to sign autographs, and a special bobblehead will be given away to fans.

Sunday, June 18
Blossomfest Parade — 12:00 p.m. (Downtown)
-Blossomfest’s very own parade will be back as always from Oak St., through E. Grand Ave. over the Grand Avenue Bridge. The parade will feature members of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.
