Small Business Spotlight: iSparkle Cupcakes

By Joe Bachman
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — In Central Wisconsin, cupcakes aren’t just sweet, but quite profitable.
For five years now, iSparkle Cupcakes owner Cassie Joy Sweet has brought homemade cupcakes to the dessert-enthusiasts of Wisconsin Rapids, and has no plans of slowing down. In an economy where small businesses come and go, the 25-year-old says business is strong, and her delectables, along with word of mouth, give reason alone to take a trip to the Rapids Mall.
“I like to be creative, and cupcakes are that for me right now,” said Sweet. “People know that I’m here, and I do a lot of weddings — so business is good.”
What started as a passion for baking soon turned into the idea of a specialty business. With help from her family, Sweet opened up iSparkle, however, the one-woman show makes sure that everything is made from the ground up.
“I make everything from scratch; though I don’t like getting up early,” joked an exuberant Sweet. “I make the batter from scratch, the frosting from scratch — it’s all homemade.”
Sweet pumps out over two dozen homemade cupcakes a day, with anywhere from four to six unique flavors. She is always taking special orders, as well as special events.
iSparkle is one of many Wisconsin Rapids gems, and you can always count on Ms. Sweet for your sugar fix. Find her inside the Rapids Mall, 555 W. Grand Ave.
