For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Wisconsin Rapids area 8th Annual Crop Hunger 5K Walk/Run will be headed to Rapids on Sept. 17.

Registration for the two-mile 5K walk/run will begin at the First Congregational Church UCC, 311 2nd St. South, at 12:30pm. The event will kick off at 1:00pm. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered walkers.

Established in 2009, the walk serves to raise awareness and money to fight poverty in the community and around the world.  The crop hunger walk will support the efforts of South Wood County Emerging Pantry Shelf (SWEPS) and The Neighborhood Table to eradicate hunger in the community by donating 25 percent of the proceeds.

“Local area residents will join communities across the United States to help end hunger one step at a time, both around the corner and around the globe.”

For further information and to pick up walk materials, please contact pastor@nekoosaucc.com, 715-886-3371, or missy@wisrapidsucc.net, 715-423-0350
