Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Police are investigating the shooting of a 28-year-old man early this morning.

According to reports, at approximately 3:30 a.m. authorities responded to a shooting that took place at the Rapids Inn & Suites, located at 3300 Eighth St. South. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and was soon rushed to Riverview Hospital with non-life threatening injuries before emergency services or police could arrive. The person who took him to the hospital is unknown at this time.

Police spoke to multiple witnesses, including the victim, to try and piece together the circumstances around the shooting. This incident is still under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the matter to contact the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department at 715-423-4444, or Wood County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-325-7867.
